Our windows depict the three ways in which the Holy Spirit enters human hearts and lives – called the “means of grace.” Our prayer is that everyone who looks at these windows can understand and find spiritual growth in their meaning.

UNIFYING ELEMENTS IN THE WINDOWS:

  1. The Biblical explanation for each window is given by means of  straightforward symbols throughout  and plain English Bible passages at the bottom of each medallion.

  2. In each window, leaded lines curve on both sides of the circular medallion.  In this graceful shape some see the eye of God, while others perceive the ancient Christian symbol of the fish.

  3. Because it is a core teaching of the Christian church, the empty cross (symbolizing both the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus) has been given central place in each window.

THE GOD’S WORD MEDALLION:

“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” (Ro. 10:17)

The large Bible is open to be read and learned.  Rays of light shine forth from it, illuminating the cross.  Easter Lilies (as a symbol of Christ’s resurrection) and green shoots (signifying  a growing spiritual life through the ongoing study of God’s word) flank the Bible.

THE LORD’S SUPPER MEDALLION:

“This is my body, given for you. This is my blood, shed for you.” (Lk. 22:19,22)

One cup symbolizes one Savior – and our unity in Him. One  loaf  denotes our active lives in the one holy Christian church.  Green vines of varying shades and shapes signify many different kinds of people all growing in the Christian life.   Rays of muted colors spring forth from the cup and loaf, suggestive of the peace that comes to those who participate in the Lord’s Supper.

THE HOLY BAPTISM MEDALLION:

In  this medallion the rays of light are coming from above, reminiscent of God’s promise in the  rainbow.  A dove  symbolizes the Holy Spirit  entering hearts and lives through baptism.  The baptismal water is not a stagnant pool but a wave-filled active water of life for all who receive it.

Installed July, 2005. The windows were executed by Othon Art Glass Company of Orangevale, California.

“He who believes and is baptized shall be saved.”  (Mk. 16:16)
